Terry Lee of Terry and the Pirates |
|
Caught between two women -- and loving it! |
Cartoonist-writer Milton Caniff created Terry (Lee) and the Pirates, and then came up with equally heroic Steve Canyon.
He also created the voluptuous Miss Lace, who made time with the lonely service men in her comic strip. He used a model named
Dorothy Parkington for Miss Lace, and would bring the lovely lady along to visit wounded servicemen in the hospital.
Rather like Miss Lace, she would always leave a lipstick impression on each serviceman as a souvenir. While neither Terry
nor Steve Canyon could exactly be called skirt-chasers, they had no end of female admirers, including (for Terry) the notorious
but beautiful Dragon Lady!
